Material properties: Carbon Spoke”ACTB20” is equipped with TORAY T700 Carbon Fiber with four beams and 12k gauzes and resin drawn into a 2.0mm carbon spoke through heat molders. 3.Strength: General lightweight metallic wires with tension and deformation around 280Kg-F will begin to extend and then break.

4.       Carbon Spokes”ACTB20” and aluminum parts are joined with glue. The currently set and also the lowest adhesive strength is 300Kg-F. Every carbon spoke has gone through one minute tensile testing under 250Kg-F, which guarantees the strength quality of every carbon spoke. 5.      Driving Force: Carbon Spokes is characterized with low malleability. Thus, the driving force will be transmitted more efficiently to rims, which will not consume any driving force even when the steel wires extend or deform. That’s because carbon spokes are light, which makes the inertia on the inertia wheel concentrate on the rim and tires so as to drive and increase the speed when the wheel is rotating at high speed.

6.      Material fatigue and aging: When general metallic material is on a fatigue test, there’ll be structural fatigue causing cracks and fracture when it’s being tested to a certain hour or number of times. If we do the same test on carbon fiber material, it can stand the trials of time ten times longer and will not cause any fatigue damage compared to the metallic material.

 

7.      In these days, carbon fiber composite materials are used on aviation and sports equipment yacht or construction materials.  Basically, the result on the durability is pretty good. The aging time of the resins is over fifteen years. Under conditions of normal use, the carbon spokes do not break unless they’re being used over the design strength of material. The tension of steel wires on a bus’s rear wheel is about 120 to 130KG-F.  However, the current design tension of carbon spokes indicates that they will break only when reaching to 320KG. On a normal use basis, they will not break. Even if there’s a holding force about 100KG when the adhesive joint detaches, carbon spokes will not break immediately. The deadly enemy of carbon spokes is “side impact crash”, which better suits to buses roads, TT cars, but to mountain bikes.  Kindly see the tension graph for ACTB20 steel wires.

8.      The first carbon spoke “ACTB20” invented by ACM stems from the idea of previously developed “full carbon fiber spoke”. Such invention helps overcome the shortcoming of carbon fiber’s resisting abrasion and was developed for the usability of replacement of single carbon spoke and the adjustment of tension. We also applied for a patent for such new type of spoke on its structure.

1.      In the future, we plan to develop flat , water-drop like, and impact-resisting carbon spoke that would easily realize lightweight wheel sets with high strength.
